Cosmic Times

"Cosmic Times" traces the understanding of the nature of the universe through the 20th and early 21st centuries. Starting with the confirmation in 1919 of Einstein's theory of gravity, it currently covers the discovery of the expanding universe, the development and evidence for the Big Bang. In the future it will cover the discovery of dark energy.

"Cosmic Times" will consist of 6 posters, each of which will look like the front page of a newspaper announcing a key discovery or development. Each poster will be accompanied by a "Newsletter" version, and classroom lessons for middle school and high school. The lessons will cover topics in physics, astronomy, and interdisciplinary subjects.

This project is under development. The 1919, 1929 and 1955 Cosmic Times posters, newsletters, and lessons are now available. The remaining will be posted in the coming months, so check back as we post them. You can also subscribe to our news service.
